All kidding aside, we do get extremely excited when we hear about a new VW coming down the production line. Well, right now we know of at least 5 models or variations so we can barely contain ourselves! For this post, we’ll cover the new Passat (NMS) and the impending Phaeton (yes, you’re reading correctly…Phaeton!).
The New Midsize Sedan (NMS) is a codename for a new sedan which will be the size of a Passat and targeted for the mid-size market. designed to compete against the Toyota and Honda competitors.
In an April 2009 interview with Automotive News, Stefan Jacoby, CEO of Volkswagen of America, stated that the NMS will be available in Spring 2011, and will have a price tag in the range of $20,000, and we now know that the available variants will range up to the high $20,000 range.

Here is an image of the new 2011 Volkswagen Phaeton, that was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show. The 2011 Volkswagen Phaeton comes complete with a classier front – a pair of bi-xenon headlight units, re-profiled front bumper and bonnet, chrome strips and a new grille. The rear features a redesigned bumper, fitted with an intricate series of tail lights. On the inside, the VW Phaeton features a new steering wheel and an electronic display panel that are joined by new trim finishes. It also comes with the option of using, for the first time, Google Maps on the RNS810 navigation system.
